A new nursery on the Kings Campus of Edinburgh University.
A building designed around the notion of ‘free play’. The building is comprised of three sculptural trapezoidal roof forms within which three playrooms are housed for different age groups. Each playroom has its own roof light view to the tree canopy above as well as access to a shared external sheltered terrace and three distinct garden spaces. The building won the RIBA Award for Scotland, the RIAS Award, the Zero Waste Scotland’s Resource Efficiency Award 2015 and the Wood Awards for Education and Public Sector 2015.
