Hampshire County Council developed a simple repeatable ‘shared design’ that could be adapted easily for different school extension projects across the county. This consisted of a glulam portal frame in a 3.6m grid connected to a volume with a flat roof. Oakridge Infant and Junior School was one of the largest of these expansion projects. It is L shaped in plan with 2 wings at 90 degrees. It provides 6 additional classrooms, a staff and 2 group rooms, toilets, store and a plant room.
